Director of Studies RN, BSc, Dip,CELTA

My name is Deborah, the owner and director of studies at Nightingales Medical English ®, created in 2012 to support overseas colleagues with English in practice.  A friendly, empathetic, dynamic and motivational teacher, dedicated to helping students increase their confidence and language skills for practice, and to pass the Occupational English Test, (OET).

I am a native English speaker with a clear standard accent, and a British medical professional with 24 years clinical experience and 10 years as a professional language teacher. I hold the internationally recognized Cambridge Celta certification.

My clinical experience has been predominantly frontline, A&E, acute medicine, surgery, and across all medical and surgical disciplines, as well as non acute settings, chronic disease treatment, management, prevention.

Lessons focus on developing language and critical thinking skills that are essential for working in a healthcare environment.  Therefore, all lessons, courses aid preparation and simulate the situations and scenarios you will encounter in the clinical environment. Whilst learning essential OET test preparation strategies and the communication skills needed to successfully pass the OET.  Therefore, you will hopefully feel more confident and knowledgeable on exam day and better prepared for practice.

If you have an intermediate level of English, and scoring a min of 30/40 in Reading and Listening in the OET mock test, and highly motivated. I am very experienced at preparing students within a few weeks and in a few lessons to develop clinical communication skills and confidence, to pass the OET at first attempt.

Also at Nightingale’s Medical English we can help you improve and expand your Medico Legal vocabulary and comprehension.
